No longer FS T60 2007-55U 15'' SXGA+ IPS/Flexview warranty

#1 Post by ryengineer » Mon Apr 21, 2008 4:58 pm

Product: ThinkPad T60 2007-55U
Original description: T2400(1.83GHz), 512MB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 15in 1400x1050 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X1300, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro.
-I've upgraded the RAM and HDD to 2GB x1 stick (brand: Corsair) and 200GB (brand: Hitachi 7k200) respectively.

-Battery cycle count: 4.

-Manufacturing date: 07/10 (Year/Month).

-Warranty Expiration date: 2010-12-23 (Full IWS support).

-I bought it directly through lenovo EPP in Nov or Dec 07 (IIRC), it's in brand new condition, no dead/stuck pixels, dings, scratches, or spots of any types. However ever since out of the box it has one minor defect, the left hinge makes a noise when you rotate the lid to an obtuse angle (more than 90 degs.), I haven't contacted IBM but I'm certain you can easily get it fixed under warranty.

-Comes with IBM logo.
-Will also include the recovery disks that I burned.
-You'll receive everything in box from original lenovo box to spare trackpoint caps, manuals, modem cable, AC adapter, battery etc. etc.

-I prefer non CC Paypal with confirmed address but will consider accepting other forms of payment also.
-Will ship worldwide too.
-Upon completion of successful sale $5 donation will go to the forum (from my account).

-I deserve the right to end the ad at anytime if the machine gets sold among any of my interested co-workers at work.

Selling Guru's kindly suggest a price.

And where were you, sir, when I was begging to buy a machine like this for a friend of mine.... :D

Sounds like an absolute thing of beauty. Given all the details, remaining warranty and upgrades, I'd probably be asking $850 if it were mine.

Best of luck with the sale.

Heyyyy...is it a kinda plastic-on-plastic "click" noise that it makes? If so, my T60p has made that same noise since day 1.

It irritated the heck out of me at first since my T42p was dead-silent upon opening, but I felt that it was too trivial an issue to worry about opening a warranty claim (and incurring lost time with the ThinkPad) over, and I managed to resist the temptation to open it up and fix it myself. Now, several months later, I find that it has become sort of a psychologically-comforting noise, where if I *don't* hear it when I open it up, I subconsciously think that I haven't finished opening it up all the way.

I'm so used to hearing it now that I don't know what I'd do *without* that noise if it were to stop...LOL.

Considering that this one of the (by many members!) highly worshipped FlexView/IPS T60's, it might be of interest for potential buyers if you could provide a bit of information about your personal view with respect to this particular LCD quality? About a year ago, when I was investigating which T60 FlexView/SXGA+ to buy, I was a bit concerned about the reports of some T60 SXGA+ FlexView LCD's being said to exhibit a (a bit annoying) "sparkling effect" (owing to a coating issue?), as e.g. discussed in the threads T60 flexview display sparkling and Disappointing 15" Flexview screen and flexview and eye strain. Assuming that there are other very picky potential buyers such as I, being interested in this FlexView T60, it might be of interest with a comment about your LCD?

For those who don't know this: ThinkPad's with Flexview/IPS displays are no longer being manufactured, so this is a rare opportunity to get one - without gambling e.g. on eBay!

PS: With respect to the IWS coverage (outside USA):

... this of course is "nice", BUT it may in reality not be worth anything (!) outside of USA... this is at least my experience, with IBM (not Lenovo), as discussed in the thread IBM/Denmark deny to honor warranty confirmed by IBM-Support.

Best of luck with the sale.

while we appreciate everyone's enthusiasm about the T60p, IPS displays, etc., let's please stay on-topic.   if you have a specific question about the sale then please feel free to post it here, otherwise discussions are better off saved for the various forums or PM.

thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Nathan, it's exactly that plastic-on-plastic like click noise and likewise it doesn't bother me at all now, I would too on purpose anticipate it to “click” while opening the lid.

Johan, this machine doesn’t exhibit any symptoms of sparkle effect which I’m fairly familiar with, my X61 tablet had mild effect; I had settled to live with it but SXGA+ display in 12’’ screen form factor was too small for me.

Thanks George, and yep this is really a dazzling machine; I do agree that given the specs the price you quoted would be quite fair to ask, however I’ve decided to keep the machine, thank you to those who pm-ed me to express their interest.

Actually the reason for selling this was that I was looking for something more portable since I'm in a process of moving to a bigger house which is far-off from work but closer to kid's school, however the IPS screen is so gorgeous and thinking over again I now feel it's not a wise decision to give it up for good; I would rather buy a small thinkpad to fulfill my requirements.
