T41 (2371 SG1) memory slots

#1 Post by geefour » Tue Apr 22, 2008 11:37 am

I have a T41 which has 1GB of ram. I am considering getting it upgraded to 2GB of ram but, when I open the memory compartment underneath, all I found was one slot with a 512MB stick.

Does anyone know where the second slot is located :?: :?

@ geefour:

You may perhaps want to make acquaintance with the Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p - what you ask is very clearly described therein. Also, have a look in the Hardware removal and installation - ThinkPad T40/p, T41/p, T42/p, T43/p movie index. 8)

memory replacement

#5 Post by dg » Wed May 28, 2008 10:25 am

I want to replace the 256MB sodimm under my keyboard with a 1GB stick.
P72 of The Hardware Manual says about the screws:
"Each one should be used only once" &
"Always use new screws"

Is it really that important? And if so, where can one buy plastic coated M2 screws?

Thanks,
Danny

It isn't important. I use new screws when mounting the fan
