jerk problem with R61 while running on battery

#1 Post by spdewan » Tue Apr 22, 2008 11:39 am

I have just purchased Lenovo ThinkPad R61 with vista basic. As i need to install some softwares which are not compatible with vista i downgraded it to XP professional SP2. Downloaded all drivers and thinkvantage software from lenovo website for XP.

when running on battery the system jerk. i mean it stops for a micro sec then goes on, not noticable during browsing or using other softwares but when u listen to some audio or watch a video you can easily identify the problem. If you move cursor from upper left corner to lower corner you can also notice that the cursor stops for a sec. I am also unable to connect to internet via dial up if system is working on battery only it just try to connect modem noise comes but unfortunately cant connect to server. This problem only comes when only battery is connected, If ac plugged in there no problem at all everything just works fine and normal.

Ill appreciate if anybody can help me out with this problem. :?:

Try to install new versions of power management driver and power manager. Also check power sheme when running on battery, try to set it on max performance and see what happens.....

I had almost the same problem with my R40, it was faulty wifi card, but it did it no matter if on the battery or on the AC.

In your case I'd recommend to try to turn off the power management features of your wifi card, the card normally goes to lower power and worse perfomance mode when on battery, but you can easily turn it off in the device manager.
