R40 LCD Backlight dimming?
R40 LCD Backlight dimming?
My R40's lcd seems to be dimming. Is that possible? And if so what can I do about it. It is getting difficult to see in a well lit room, though there is not one side or the other that is darker than the other so I don't think that one of the lights is out.

Backlights age, and dim when older.
Try setting your brightness to "high" in BIOS. If that doesn't help, you can try to replace the backlight yourself or contact forum member jamiphar (James) who offers this service.
Good luck.

Would you say that it is likely the cold cathode tubes or the inverter? The inverter is likely a lot easier to deal with than the other. Would it be better to look for the better lcd with the whole lid assembly? What are my options. I can fix the problem if I know what it is.

The cold cathode tube not the inverter. It will dim with age.sscalf wrote:Would you say that it is likely the cold cathode tubes or the inverter?
