Can TPfancontrol & NHC, both be run at the same time???

#1 Post by djThinkbad » Fri Apr 25, 2008 12:37 pm

Hi

I was just wondering if both TPfancontrol & NHC could be installed and kept running together? :?

If so, is it as simple as just installing both?

My T43 is both HOT and NOISY, so I just need to use both programs to get this beast under control

Thanks
djThinkbad (Jesse)
I got me a T43P, a T42 and a T41

The T41 never had any problems except a keyboard replacement

The T42 never gave me a problem

BUT THE T43P IS A DIFFERENT HOT & NOISY BEAST >95*C (on fire all the time/everytime)

I remember reading a post, (on here I think), that they do NOT play well together.

If you simply use the (simple and very efficient!) Search function available on this forum, and e.g. search for the two words "TPfancontrol NHC" (and remember to check "Search for all terms"), and as a start just restrict your search to the T4x forum, then a great deal of useful information immediately turn up, such as:
The thread Is it possible to slow my fan speed down? where, in his post of Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:02 pm, ulrich.von.lich wrote:It's a pity that NHC cannot be used simultaneously with the TPFanControl. They are both excellent programs.

From my experience dealing with the T43, TPFanControl does a better job of reducing the fan noise by slowing down the fan speed by force, in exchange for a hotter machine.

The NHC won't change the way the BIOS controls the fan speed. So when the fan speed is slowed down, it means less heat is generated in the system. (less power consumption & more battery juice)

So use NHC as long as the fan noise is tolerable; use TPFanControl when desperate (such as in a library)
