Hot pixels, stuck pixels or....

#1 Post by NS » Sat Apr 26, 2008 1:30 am

Hello everyone, i am back with questions again. I have some problems with my thinkpad LCD. There is a thin vertical line (from top to bottom) on my LCD.

I know that this is "hot" pixels. It is not dead pixels or stuck pixels as the color will change but not the same color as the background color. I have taken the risk to open up the LCD.

The vertical line appeared directly above the ribbon cable. Initially there was only one vertical line but yesterday, i have found another new line appearing. Both lines are directly appearing at the place where the bottom is the black ribbon cable. Have not tried connecting to an external monitor because i do not have an external monitor with me in the meantime. The lines are not causing me any troubles but i *do* find them irritating and ugly on my LCD. :-(

I don't think that connecting the machine to an outside monitor will tell you what you need to know...

Try changing the cable. If that doesn't work, you'll be looking for a new LCD.

Good luck.

This is a dead or disconnected column driver on the LCD. It could be a red, green or blue line. It will not be a cable issue since the cable line break will be like missing a bit on every byte sent to the panel.
