Thinkpad 600E On AC Power but Not Charing Battery

#1 Post by rumguy » Sat Apr 26, 2008 10:00 pm

I have Windows XP SP2 running on my Thinkpad 600E. It's been a month that I have this problem. My battery has little or no charge at all. When I check the Power Meter in XP, it sometimes says 0%, and sometimes says 5%. It never increases from that. When I hover over the Power Icon in XP taskbar, it says "On AC Power." The battery seems not to be charging at all.

Also, when I plug in my power adapter, the battery led starts blinking orange. It keeps doing that unless I plug my power adapter out. So I have to run my laptop with power adapter whenever I have to use it.

I bought Battery Doubler, but that did not seem to help. I tried recalibration like this: under Power Options, under the heading Running with Batteries, I selected NEVER for all tabs. Then, I unplugged the power adapter. My laptop ran Windows for about 45 seconds, then suddenly shut down in an instant. When I turned back my computer on and plugged back the power adapter, the blinking orange LED for battery was still the same way.

I really need help with this. Thanks.

I would guess that you have a dead battery. Is there any reason you think that the battery is not dead?

I have a box full of batteries that just blink orange when on AC power....they are all bad. I think you need a new battery.
