outdated lenovo video drivers?

#1 Post by eigh » Sun Apr 27, 2008 7:33 am

one of the reasons i got my new "6459-cto" t61p was so i could play bioshock. i tried out the demo and it keeps crashing.

when i installed it the game claimed my video card driver was out of date. my thinkpad has a quadro fx 570m. according to the nvidia site i should get my drivers from my laptop manufacturer since they so specially worked with them for extra functionality.

the drivers are around 6 months old on the lenovo download site. for some reason im convinced the drivers for my vid card are a pos. are there some good open source ones i could use that are more up to date?

p.s. i also own a t43 and loved it to death. this is my first lenovo thinkpad/vista computer and i really dont like it. its pretty, but stuff doesnt work.

While I can't specifically comment on the nViida card, I can tell you that on my t60p, Vista business, 32bit, 3gb ram I have had no problem with Bioshock and would ignore any message that the drivers are out of date. Bioshock did not even detect the 2 cores on the core2duo. If the game does not run properly (most options turned on, high resolution), then I would look elsewhere on your system.
