I'm thinking about getting my laptop engraved but on the bottom side of the laptop with my name and my other information. When I look for this kind of stuff I always try to figure out how I could break this type of security.
First one: $49 dollars for a 3 out of 4 recovered laptop, if not: money back. Still a lot of work and time (through the police) and if it's never connected to the internet the $49 is a cold/poor comfort. So it's best to leave a second hand laptop unconnected until you do a full format in case it's stolen
The sticker can be removed and the tatoo scratched away. Same goes for the engraving. I happen to have 2 spare cases for my 570's, but that could be just me
Ergo, make sure you have recent backups and use the built in security passwords. Leaving it unattended is an invitation, so always keep an eye on it.
Just my 2 eurocents..

R,
I wish there was a serious successor to the TP570..
