i just won a bid on a thinkpad T42p for $1980US. Now since i live in Canada and i cannot pay paypal with unconfirmed address, so he told me to do wire transfer. Now i dont have the $1250 paypal converage, i need to be extra safe even though he has 100% feedback and is a square trade member, so anyone brought a thinkpad from him?

See if you can confirm your address. I am a PayPal user in Canada with a confirmed address and I use PayPal to do US transactions. I also have used BidPay which is a Money Order service. I use them if the seller does not want to use PayPal. Check BidPay to see if they can cover losses or insure for a small fee. ... JD Hurst

how can you confirm a canada address? i thought confirm address is US only?

I just checked my account. It says Status: Canadian - Verified. I have no problems with US suppliers. It was a while ago (more than a couple of years ago) that I verified the address. Check with PayPal support. ... JD Hurst

i check my paypal account it said i am verified too, but when i pay somebody, it said i have unconfirm address, and there are no option for me to confirm

US sellers do not qualify for PayPal seller protection when they ship to Canada, even if the Canadian address is confirmed for Canadian transactions. So it's not possible for you to confirm your address for US transactions:

If you can post your ebay item number, those of us who are experienced on ebay can offer our input about whether or not you should proceed with the transaction. The issue is if you send payment by bank wire, Western Union, or money order/cashiers check, it's very difficult if not impossible to recover your funds if your laptop isn't delivered. If you send payment by credit card via PayPal, you have an extra level of protection if something goes wrong.

Looks okay. All his feedback has been for similar items and all the feedback has appeared within a week or two of the transactions closing (i.e. he delivers his items quickly). Do note that the laptop you're buying is refurbished.

yes i know is refurbish, i talk to him on the phone before and he told me that.

i am just scared because last month my friend brought a computer from a person in a forum and pay by wire transfer, and a few weeks late not only the computer did not arrived, he cut his phone #, close his bank account, and at the same time scammed 15 PEOPLE!!
