Powering up with case closed

#1 Post by pgoelz » Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:37 pm

I'm considering a second X41 for use as a small desktop PC with external monitor and keyboard. I am doing this with a Thinkpad 600 now, but it is getting long in the tooth.

But I realized that unlike the 600, there is no way to turn the X41 on with the cover closed? Is there a power button on the docking base?

The x4 ultrabase(PS/2, USB2.0 x3, RJ46, RJ18, parallel x1, serial x1, vga d-sub x1,stereo speakers, eject button, power jack, and a ultrabay slim slot for ODDs) does have the on/off button(and a switch to lock the button or unlock it).

There are some photo shots in this notebook review.

I have two extra x4 ultrabase without the ultrabay slim drive. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks, that is good to know. I'm still considering the options. I can get a nice small micro tower type CPU for about half what an X41 would cost but it would also be nice to have a second X41. That, or look at an X61 and use my X41 as the Thinkpad 600 replacement.
