slipstreaming your xp install?
slipstreaming your xp install?
i have a t61p with vista business. i think vista has some problems running some games i would like to play. i want to downgrade to xp but the installer can never find my hard drive. because of this i think the xp installer needs drivers to see my sata drive.
is there a way i can slipstream stuff into my xp cd so the driver from the lenovo website can be included already? (i dont have a floppy drive)
if not does anyone know of another solution i could try? could i use an xp cd that i have, create an image in a virtual machine, export that image to a usb drive, then use a drive imaging program to ghost the virtual drive image onto my hard disk then to finally boot the ghosted image originally created in the virtual drive?
p.s. the xp image i have is legit so dont give me any stuff about piracy ****.

To install XP on your TP, you have to go into BIOS and set SATA there to 'compatibility'.
You won't need a floppy for that.
XP-SP3 just came out. Slipstream your original XP with SP3 plus whatever other drivers you like, following e.g. this method:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm
Substitute SP2 with SP3.

i tried to slipsteam in some drivers for the sata driver but when i looked in the hardware manager of vista it pointed me towards some ".sys" files for the driver it was using for the hard disk. ill have to look again since nlite wants .ins files.

Yeah, use nLite, but some advice - don't try to follow the help instructions, just run the program and follow the prompts - they're pretty self explanatory. I found the help instructions very confusing!
