T61 SD controller

#1 Post by ShadowRider » Wed Apr 30, 2008 8:58 am

I attempted to plug an SD radio into the SD slot but instead of telling me it was an unknown device, or a radio, it says its an MMC hard drive.

Can I use the SD slot for SD devices other then media?

I have another laptop from Toshiba that allows me to use the radio without issue so I know its not he SD radio.

Thanks.

You mean SDIO?

I was wondering about that myself. I had thought that only PDAs supported those, but your saying that a Toshiba supported it has me interested too. I'd like to know if my T61's Ricoh controller can handle it.

Well, a web search for "R5C822 Ricoh SDIO" found several Linux folks talking about the chipset, and this page

http://www.ricoh.com/LSI/product_pcif/p ... index.html

from Ricoh talks about SD/SDIO.

Somewhere around here I have an SDIO GPS. I'll try to dig it out tonight and try it. I doubt without a Windows driver that it will work because it required a driver for both Windows Mobile and Palm OS devices. Maybe Vista will find a driver for it - who knows?

Alas, no luck in finding the SDIO GPS. I found the CD for it, but not the unit itself. I've reached the age where the location of things sort of flows around me. Things vanish for months, and then they suddenly show up long after I've forgotten what I wanted them for.
