I need some quick help. About 2 weeks ago I purchased a refurbished IBM Thinkpad (A22m) that came with a XP Home OS. (900 Mz, 256K) I upgraded to XP professional, and it connected just fine with DSL (wired through ethernet). I loaded MS office, and a few Shockwave games, as well as AntiVirus software. About a week ago I started getting a red screen at boot up before the XP splash screen. Went on to boot, but the colors were off. Tried to remove the battery and the black screen returned at bootup without battery. But that's been going on and off at bootup intermittently. THEN, my ethernet cable wasn't being recognized when I tried to get on the net. Tried several that I know work with my other computers and the Network connection icon in the control panel says the cable is unplugged. Tried system restore, direct wired to my DSL modem (bypassing my router) and still no go. Any ideas? This thing has a brief warranty.
Thanks for any help

Only way now is to reinstall the OS and see if it continues. Since you dont have that much loaded, might as well start with a clean slate. If it still happens, you probably have a bad mobo.
