Help: T43 self resumes from standby

#1 Post by md23128 » Fri May 02, 2008 2:25 am

Hi all,

since several weeks my T43 (1872-CG1) self resumes from standby... For example I close the lid, laptop goes standby (green moon lights on, hard drives stop and so on), but when I wake up next morning, it is powered on.

Or, I put my laptop in standby-mode in the bag, but when I come to my office it is on :o (not rebooted, simply returned from standby)

HELP! Any suggestions? Is it a hardware, or can it be software problem? Is it possible at all, to resume from standby by software??

It is very annoying, should system reinstall help? I suspect some software cousing resuming, for example Avast, Thunderbird, ActiveSync... Do you have/had similar symptopms?

And the last question: how to track, when and why computer resumed from standby? Windows logs do not show any errors...

Maybe some scheduled task with "Wake the computer to run this task" enabled? Check Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks. Maybe some BIOS settings like Wake on LAN or Resume on Time?

Thanks a lot, it was probably "SyncBack test" in scheduled tasks :) hope it solves the problem :)
