It is not actually a standard-size 2.5" drive; as aaa noted it is thicker than a notebook drive.

It is standard 2.5" but it also incorporates a heat spreader because it is too hot.
It is not for laptop with its monstrous power consumption and heat.

Standard for servers, I guess. The biggest laptop drives are 12.5, Thinkpads use 9.5.
