I just received my T42p 2373Q1U today. If there's a price drop within 30 days, can I get IBM to refund the difference?

[quote="morrow"]in times past, there was a ThinkPad Advisory Council which met once a year (or so)..
it was comprised of members ibm thought would help in focusing the future design and direction of thinkpads..
it died after 911..

Here, here, Bill and yes there was an Advisory Council. Too bad that it no longers exists. Maybe you and I can resurrect it... along with other friends of ours.

I'm pretty sure that I've read of stuff like that happening, even on this very forum. Might try searching the archives.

So, how's the Q1U? :-)

Still haven't seen the Q4U re-appear. I wonder why IBM couldn't manage to roll those out? Is there a shortage of Intel a/b/g?

Don't worry. Intel says that he will "running on a forthcoming dual-core microprocessor for notebook PCs code-named Yonah. The Intel announcement isn't until tomorrow (19th) so I doubt IBM will announce anything before then.

I thought that T43 has already been introduced (at least in europe).
Anyway, yesterday i downloaded the pdf brochure from the italian ibm web site (it can be found in other local sites as well, such as the german or uk site).
Anyone knows if the external form is any different from T42?

@konstantinos I don't think the Housing has changed much - the photo in the PDF appears to be the same like the T42 series ...

EDIT:

sometimes Germany is faster ;)

unfortunately like always without prices :(

btw. does anyone see the difference between the UC3H2GE and UW2H2GE ?
allegedly has the first "only" 2,10GHz but in the details both have the Pentium M770 with 533 - so one must have a mistake

UW2H2GE:
IBM On-site Repair (IOR), 5 x 9 Monday - Friday excluding holidays, next business day response

UC3H2GE:
Bring in

but shouldn't there be more T43p Models different in Hardware too (Wireless etc.)? - I thougt they present 3 ...

T43 vs. T43p

#143 Post by vickertj » Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:21 am

Hi everyone,
Is the difference between these two models the video card? I.e., in T43 the video card will use system memory, versus the T43p will have its own memory? If so that really sucks that the T43p won't be out until April. I guess I might be better off with a T42p if video performance is important, huh? Too bad I've been waiting if this is the case!
Thanks
Tim

ahh :D - I found the different models in the Announcement PDF: http://www.ibm.com/common/ssi/rep_ca/5/ ... 05-035.PDF

I hope they'll come to germany too ;)

there seems to be actually no model with fingerprint, wireless a/b/g, DVD Recordable and UXGA at the same time as expected

I can only take a 2668-H1U or H3U (already again no difference :?:) and build in a DVD Recordable myself

well, one cannot have everything ;)

@vickertj
no - there are also t43 without the intel media acc. but the ati x300

I seriously hope that the two T43 models posted to the web site aren't all they are releasing today. I am not extremely impressed by the stats...

Thanks for those links...how did you find those?
Unfortunately, it says "planned availability" of T43 is Feb. 25, and for T43p April. Guess I will go ahead with my T42 purchase.
