MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hello
Has updated the modem mc8775 versions OEM hp hs2300
Insertion from site HP sp36109.exe H-1.1.8.3
The modem worked normally. Has then decided to update
On version H-2.0.8.19, after that updatings and
Reboots the modem is restarted each 3-4 seconds.
But at start of updating it ceases to be restarted
Also allows to update itself, but then again it starts to be restarted. Tried versions of updatings
H-1.1.8.3, H-1.1.9.3, H-2.0.7.1B, H-2.0.8.19 result identical
The information in NVRAM has been as far as I understand damaged
During an insertion. Whether it is possible it as that to restore?
Or how that on another to force it to work?
Thanks

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi,
I tried to update my 8755 with a new firmware a while ago, but after windows restarted the device didn't even show anymore, I was not using the card at the time that much, so i didn't do anything about it, but after I've been camping a few times lately I would like to be about to use it again, is there anything I can do to reflash the card? when it is not showing at all?
Thanks
Rich

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Hi, just upgradet my T61 6457CTO 15.4" with a Lenovo brandet MC8775. Now im waiting for the SIM card slot, Antenna and Idicatorplate to arrive. Sucsessfully upgradet with the 2_0_8_19 FW. I try to download the Sierra Wirelesswatcher for the MC8775 but there is nothing to download for any MC serious Card!!! So i get the Watcher for the AirCard 875 semms to work.
Did you guys took the same Watcher: Watcher_Generic_B2808.msi? (is there a better or newer one?)
I Also enabled the v=Voice Calling function did somebody get it to work?
Is in the MC8775 also a GPRS Module installed?
Thanks for all the Informations FWs and the other stuff.....

Yes, Sierra Wireless_3G_Watcher_R10.11.0.0_Build2808 (Nov 2010) is the latest onekijushu wrote:Did you guys took the same Watcher: Watcher_Generic_B2808.msi? (is there a better or newer one?)
For the Voice feature to function, physical connections (Mic & Speaker) are required to the MC8775kijushu wrote:I Also enabled the v=Voice Calling function did somebody get it to work?
Yes - See MC8775 Datasheetkijushu wrote:Is in the MC8775 also a GPRS Module installed?

So there is no way tu use the voice function with the internal mic and Speakers? I didn't need it but would be cool!
Sorry i ask for GPRS but i ment GPS.

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Yes, it maybe possible, if you are willing to solder a few "flying leads" from the WWAN mPCIe slot to the Mic & Speaker of your T61. If you could get around the BIOS whitelist, you maybe able to install a Voice enabled Huawei EM770 (as per my signature) which supports PCM digital audio and is able to use the ThinkPad's internal Mic & Speaker's and therefore make & receive Voice calls via your mobile operator (providing your sim plan supports Voice calls).kijushu wrote:So there is no way tu use the voice function with the internal mic and Speakers?...
I believe the MC8775V variant is GPS enabled, as it has the 2nd antenna connector. (Both MC8775 & MC8775V modules do not support antenna diversity)kijushu wrote:Sorry i ask for GPRS but i ment GPS.

Hi,
I tried to update my mc8775 card to the latest firmware, but binupdater.exe couldn't find the device. the modem works fine, so it definitely exists.
any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Really sorry to drag up an old thread... But I am desperate here.
I have a UK model X61T with a MC8775 Card which is unlocked, it was working perfectly with my T-Mobile sim, out of boredom I saw this thread and wanted to flash my card. None of the links worked but I managed to find the files elsewhere.
Both flashes seemed to go okay, however as soon as there is a sim card in my laptop and it picks up a network it will disconnect/reconnect the device, giving a windows unplug/plugin sound. Also the operator is not displayed properly when this happens, it seems to be some form of Chinese? writing or similar.
Obviously I cannot connect to a network.
I have tried flashing a few times without the sim card in and it's still the same, I have also tried another sim.
I am using the drives from the Lenovo Website which install fine, I have tried the Sierra drivers but they don't install one of the devices. (The card itself, but all the com ports install ok)
I have also tried the "tape trick" which made no difference.
Can someone please help, or give me some different files to try and flash, possibly the original Lenovo ones if possible?
Many thanks.

I assume you have updated your BIOS with Middleton?
If not, get it here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/ ... ost6501443
Then I'd advise to get a Huawei EM770 or EM770W instead of Sierra.
Also see this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=570612

Thanks for the reply, I created my own BIOS, I also made the custom BIOS for the HP Microserver that everyone uses http://microserver.wikia.com . I added whitelist and SLIC tables, I have just tried Middleton BIOS but it's still the same so putting mine back on.
I have a few EM770 (ASUS) I do not like this card, And I hate the Mobile Partner software, I only use Lenovo Access connections, the EM770 does not work without taping Pin20 which I do not like as I prefer to switch my card off when needed.
I also have GOBI 2000 cards in my X201's, not a bad card, but my MC8775 was perfect in my X61T when I had it working, I wish I did not try flash this "Update" my files did not come from this website as the links are all down, I found it somewhere else, but this may just be a corrupt file.
I would like to try and flash other firmware, maybe Cisco but all the links are dead! can someone PM/e-mail me known working firmware for this card?
Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Please please someone help me with these files, I cannot use my x61 for work, someone must still have a copy
Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
What was the firmware version you flashed? & where did you get it from?
It's been a long while since I have used an MC8775 - Unlike yourself, I prefer the Huawei EM770 (Voice enabled) with the mobile partner utility and pin20 covered (T60 BIOS modified)

All my EM770 are voice enabled but no need for voice, I have to use Lenovo Access connections and this card does not work with it, I also need to Fn F5 to turn card off when not in use to save power.
I got firmware & flasher from here:
http://3g-modem.wetpaint.com/page/Sierr ... 26+MC8775v
I think maybe NVRAM corrupt or this firmware no good?, I was wondering if there are any AT commands I can use or someone can take a dump from a working card I can flash, I can still keep flashing bootloader and firmware with no issues, card works till it picks up a network and then reboots itself.
Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
OK - Here are some links to guides & info - May be of some use to you(?):
Sierra Wireless UMTS Modems Supported AT Commands Reference
Sierra Wireless AirPrime UMTS / LTE MC/SL-series Extended AT Command Reference
I do not know if the following link has an un-corrupt firmware >>> Update the firmware of the HP HS2300 WWAN card for support of 7.2MBit Download - Click on "Mirror on wolf-u.li" link in this page to download the firmware (MC8775-H2_0_8_1)
From what you have said, it does seem that the NVRAM may have been corrupted during the firmware upgrade
Qualcomm had/has a software utility to manage their MSM chipsets - "QPST" - Qualcomm Product Support Tool - It is capable of updating & over-writing the NVRAM with the correct .QCN file - Unfortunately I do not have a copy of this software, but a bit of searching may reveal it.
Hope this helps a little bit -

Just tried my Gobi 2000, that requires Pin 20 taped so put that back in the X201
Tried my EM770, requires Pin 20 taped, works fine but horrible Mobile Partner
Will reply back in a bit, if the above doesn't work I will have to buy another MC8775 (seems to be only card thats truly supported)
Or find a work around with EM770 and Mobile Partner.
Just played with voice on mine, it's cool but this is data only sim hehe
Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist ?
Seems my MC8775 is toast
Using my EM770 now instead, was messing around with voice and just realised that my microphone does not work in Windows 7 on my X61T has anyone come across this?

You sure? I remember you could call with the em770, but couldn't speak, since the card and software can't listen to the laptop's integrated microphone.. I remember the card requiring it's own microphone, directly soldered to it's contacts or something...
T43p - M 770(2.13GHz), 2GB RAM, 60GB HDD, 15in 1600x1200 LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL V3200, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner, Intel 802.11abg wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM)
Re: Re: MC8775 Firmware update to support 7.2MB - does it exist
For Voice, the EM770 may require a firmware update as well as the correct supporting software. I currently have a voice enabled EM770 installed into this T60p with Win7 - Can make & receive voice calls using the integrated Mic & Speakers.TheBay wrote:You sure?
