Does anyone know exactly what firmware v1.1.9.3 and v1.1.9.22 firmware actually do - (eg: add additional manufactures stacks, enhance sensitivity, protocol handling etc)

I have been stundering round the net to find this firmware for ages, and as others here i unfortunetely don't have the CCO login for the webpage, from where it can be downloadet.
Can someone supply me with the 1.1.9.3 firmware please?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I am also looking for latest firmware to upgrade the MC8775 in my X61 tablet. What is the latest version that does _not_ steal any previously available bands? Anyway, important for me is GSM900/1800 and 2100 MHz 3G/UMTS...now the card seems to have also UMTS 850 and 1900 MHz, but the firmware is quite old, and especially reconnect after standby or hibernation sometimes simply does not work.
Using the radio switch turning all radio stuff off and on fixes it, but the procedure is a bit annoying
Would be nice to put all the versions that float around into one archive to play around with different ones...
With best regards

Based on my earlier post with a pic attached above, does anyone know how to unlock the bands of this modem.Rambler76 wrote:
Looking back now, I purchased the modem from IBM spare parts and it was quoted as a vodafone MC8775. Vodafone only operate a UMTS 2100 band globally but here in Australia we have a provider who operates on the 850Mhz UMTS band.
As the modem is capable of 850/2100 UMTS does anyone know if it is possible to unlock this band via a firmware update?
Thanks

Have you tried asking a service like DC Unlocker? Seems to me that it should be similar to unlocking voice on Sierra Wireless' cards. The firmware update does not change it, but it's only a configuration flag, same as the voice capability.

Can anyone please send me the latest MC8775 Firmware?
My current is H1_1_8_3MCAP, Build Date 03/08/07, Bootloader H1_1_8_0MCBT
Zender, do you happen to know how can I make the MC8775 auto-power on, independently of OS? I'm trying to get it running on OS X, but although the card is recognizable in USB Bus, Watcher can't seem to start it (I edited the OS X driver device-id to recognize it so it should work) . I am using a Lenovo Part with Fn-F5 working, etc

just like to tell y'all that the EU version of this card works with AT&T 3G in the US with version 1.1.9.3 of the software, confirmed.
BTW, I would appreciate it if someone could provide me with the 1.1.9.22 firmware for this card.
Thanks
Henning

No, it is not possible.Rambler76 wrote:As the modem is capable of 850/2100 UMTS does anyone know if it is possible to unlock this band via a firmware?
This is not possible with the present Lenovo cards . Please clarify: Are you referring to a generic MC8775 card or a Lenovo MC8775 card? If Lenovo, then what is the FRU # on the card? The Lenovo card for EU is FRU #42T0931, which does not have the frequencies that AT&T uses in the U.S. Consequently, that card cannot possibly work in the U.S. Please clarify specifically what it is that you have "confirmed". Thanks.dtscaps wrote:just like to tell y'all that the EU version of this card workswith AT&T 3G in the US with version 1.1.9.3 of the software, confirmed.
EDIT - CORRECTION:
All MC8775 cards have all 3 frequencies enabled. The U.S. cards scan for 850/1900 first, then 2100, whereas the European cards scan for 2100, then 850/1900. All cards scan all three frequencies, but the scanning order differs.

Actually all MC8775 are the same cards, Lenovo device-id or non-Lenovo. The EU FRU is same as US FRU, except for Carrier locks.EOMtp wrote:This is not possible with the present Lenovo cards . I have a German Lenovo FRU, which is sold as unlocked from the get go, and I used it while Roaming in the US with AT&T.SierraWireless Website: wrote: "The MC8775 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module offers connectivity to all three HSDPA/UMTS frequency bands (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)".

Your card has all 3 WCDMA frequencies enabled; there is no need to "unlock" anything. The fact that 01 (WCDMA 2100) is displayed is only an indication that the first band the card tries is 2100 when the card is set to 00 (All bands) or 08 (WCDMA All). If you set the card's band to 00 or 08, then all 3 WCDMA frequencies will be scanned.
Once again, all these cards have all 3 WCDMA frequencies enabled. The only difference is the order in which the bands are scanned.

In my earlier post http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 825#447825 the card was already set to 08 (all WCDMA) and later I changed it to 00 (all bands).
Having the setting at 08 or all bands at 00 still didnt help as it still wouldnt find the Australian WCDMA Telstra 850Mhz network.
Is there anything else I can do through hyperterminal to get access to the 850Mhz UMTS network?
I also emailed sierra wireless about the band issue the other day and got the following response.
We do not provide end user support on OEM products.
MC8775 supposed to be installed into your laptop by Lenovo and they should provide support on all issues.
They can escalate any issue directly to us.
On a side note we have many different SKUs and it looks like your SKU is for Asia/Australia where 850 Mhz band is disabled and 2100Mhz WCDMA is enabled.

sayagain: Aside from taping pin 20, probably not. You'd need ibmacpi or how is that module for linux called, which allows to do fn-f5 enable/disable through some /proc... file. Though I think I've heard of people who got the integrated WWAN working in MacOS... does Watcher see the card properly? Can you issue AT commands to the card?
