Installing 14" XGA LCD from T41 into T43?

#1 Post by cdclark » Mon May 05, 2008 11:20 am

I have a T41 (2379-DJU) here with a dead motherboard, and T43 (1875-DLU) with a cracked screen. Is that T41 screen compatible with the T43? Both systems originally came with XGA screens.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

You should have no problem swapping LCDs between these two.

Good luck and let us know.

Ok.. so I removed the whole LCD and lid assembly from the T41 (including its wifi antennae and much to my surprise, a BT antenna). I dropped that into the T43 and while the machine boots up and the screen's backlight comes on, I don't get any image on the screen at all. Do I need to re-use the T43 inverter board, etc?

The T41 model number you list is actually an SXGA+ model. (That also sort-of explains the BT antenna, because most of the SXGA+ screens have them) The 1875 model has intel graphics and none of those were delivered with SXGA+ screens. I have no experience putting SXGA screens on those MBs, but I'm not surprised it doesn't work. If you want to discuss a swap, send me a PM.

I just looked it up too and you're absolutely right. I had no idea we even had any SXGA+ T41's around here. Looks like this display is going on the shelf for later use!

Out of curiosity, any idea if that screen will work on a SXGA+ Dell D600?

The Dell D600 is not compatible w2ith T4x. The IBM SXGA+ from T4x has got some pins moved around in the connector, for some reason that I do not understand. I have some xga screens if you need one.

My apologies for not checking the actual model numbers, I've taken for granted that they were both XGA...

Oooh, I'll take this one!

I am typing this from a SXGA+ T23 (from 2001) and I previously had a T22 with a SXGA+ LCD too! All 14" T series models after that have had atleast one SXGA+ model ... not sure if that will be case in the future with everything going widescreen. I don't think anyone else offered such a high-res model that time (dell had a 14" UXGA model, but I think it was more during the T4x days).
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:

Yeah me too! :D I honestly don't recall ever purchasing this machine configuration... I try to keep everything around here as standardized and inexpensive as possible, hence the 1875DLU...
