FEELER: Z61t 9442-MC1 (sale, or trade for another TP)*PICS*
Hey, guys!
It's becoming my pattern to come back on here whenever I acquire a new Thinkpad. My X41 has long since been sold, and so has my Powerbook.
I have recently bought a Z61t, which I'm trying to sell, but I mainly want to trade for another Thinkpad - preferably a T4*p, R5*p, or a T60. Come to think of it, a nice G41 would be awesome!
I guess I want to do this because I just don't need two 14" widescreen notebooks at the same time.
As for the specs:
- 1.83GHz Core Duo
- 1GB RAM
- 100GB 5400RPM HDD
- 14" 1280x800 display. No dead pixels, almost no light leakage.
- DVDRW DL.
- has the non-extended battery, but I can get 2 hours out of it taking notes.
It has a couple of minor issues.
- There is a small crack just below and to the left of the Fn key. I've tried to show it in the pictures as best I can.
-The keyboard is rather shiny, but none of the lettering has worn off.
- Two wear marks on the palmrests.
- The hinges are kinda wobbly. I'm sure there are some screws to tighten internally that will fix this. They are structually sound, however.
Oh, I forgot to mention it has the Titanium lid. Anyway, here are some pictures of it. I've tried to illustrate the keyboard, palmrests, and crack as best I can.

Let me know what you think it's worth/your offer!
Thanks!

My estimate, depending on who's buying, would be somewhere in the $450-475 range.

Z series are a PITA to sell IMHO, although they are sweet machines. You may do better with a trade, if someone specifically needs a unit like this...
Good luck.

What makes them such a PITA?
Yes, I was looking mainly for a trade, as a matter of fact. Money just isn't really my thing.
Offer away, Thinkpadders!

I second the Z machines as being good value and quality machines. I had a Z60m for a couple of months that, despite a LCD flaw, was very capable.
Perhaps it's the occasional instance of $399 Z61ts being available through Lenovo Outlet that makes them hard to sell, but I would say that if you have an example that you deem good enough to sell for a price above what George has given you, then by all means try it.
Personally, given my experiences with a Z machine, I would consider paying a premium for something that warranted it, or trading accordingly. I'd say that a reasonably specced T41p, T42p or R50p would be a reasonable trade (with a bit more of a premium to be put on a T42p w/ 15" Flexview).
Good luck!

I don't think that Outlet sales has anything to do with the general perception of Z series as being undesirable by quite a few people...
Personally, I like them. But I've had a heck of a time selling an absolutely dead mint unit with comparable specs with two years of onsite warranty left. The only thing it was missing was the original box, and it generated next to no interest on this forum. And there's a zillion brand new ones on eBay at prices that make me believe that someone must have robbed a Lenovo ship, or at least a convoy.
With Lenovo dropping prices the way they have, all non-FlexView units have taken a massive hit, and even the FlexView ones have been affected, although to a far lesser degree.
My estimate is by no means a word of God. I'd love for you to get $700 for it, because, guess what - I've got one sitting in the box in my workroom, an order that got cancelled, that I'm not even offering for sale anywhere because of my previous experiences with selling Z series machines. So, it will likely stay in the family, although I have yet to find use for it.
Once again, and from the bottom of my heart, best of luck with the sale.

Z61t's are super machines, I'm typing this on one now.
However, the price of everything has dropped and they were never really popular for some reason. I was going to say $500 would be top dollar for your machine and this auction that ended today, pretty much confirms it.

That machine was near new and had considerably better spec's. It went for just over $500.
With new R61's selling around $500 and new T61's under $700, you can't ask for much more than that.
