Battery failed

#1 Post by MeCasa » Wed May 07, 2008 5:41 pm

I'm running a T60 and my batteryfailed at one year 3 months. Since my current 6 cell wasn't that good, should I go 9 cell and does the 9 protrude from the rear of the machine.

Any advice on a replacement?

Thanks

If it is an original battery, there should be 12-month warranty

Very unfriendly way of handling a minor and unintended transgression, have you ever thought about getting a job as a small town cop, you could truncheon High Schoolers for jaywalking.

OK, since the original post I learned the the 9 cell does protrude and I don't think I'd like that so any suggestions on purchasing a new 6 cell

Thanks

The 9 cells lifespan is the same as the 6 cell. A battery failing after 15 months is unusual. What usually happens is that the capacity slowly decreases over time and eventually (2 to 3 years) needs replacement. The 9 cell protrudes from the back and weighs about 1/2 lb more then the 6 but gives 4+ hours of life depending on what you are doing, your power settings and other factors. If you leave your t60 plugged in to AC most of the time adjust the power settings to stop charging at 97% or less.
Considering the cost of batteries, I'm always interested in what others are doing to increase their batteries lifespan so anyone please chime in with your recommendations.
Also, anyone have recent experiences with batteryrefill.com and T60 batteries???

Mine failed at about 18 months. BUT, that's because it had a million power cycles ... I didn't read up on lith-ion batteries before.

I was too cheap to pay for a genuine levovo battery so I went with a generic 9 cell. It's served me well so far. I now have the charging thresholds set so that it wont charge below 20% and stops charging at 80%.
