Replacing the 600x800 screen by the one off a 570e
I moved the HD to the 570e and the screen looked so much better. You can do that with Linux because there isn't a registry keeping tabs on the chip ID number. So I decided to cannibalize the 570e for parts the screen to this A20m and 256Mb of memory to the T21. Both the A20m and the T21 have working batteries. I'm a bit reluctant to do much screwdriver work on a totally working machine like this A20m though it looks like a simple job.
I have incorporated a company called linuxcomputersolutions Ltd (Number 6376832). Any computers that go through my hands get Mandriva-Linux fitted. I own a A20m 500MHz, 320Mb, 40Gb and a 800MHz T21 that has 384Mb SDRAM Without a HD or a working screen

That LCD will NOT work in your A20m...so spare yourself the grief.

Re:Screem
Did the A20 series have other options than this 600x800 screen ? The graphics card seems to have options up to 1600x1800 not that the screen can handle it. Getting the T21's display working would be the better option, I could then move this hard-drive to that machine.

I've seen A2* with 12.1" 14.1" (xga) and 15" (xga and up) LCDs. I believe the A20P and A21p were 15" SXGA+ and the A22P was 15" UXGA. Thats from memory... so I make no guarantees as to accuracy!

A22m XGA, SXGA+ (2628-Sxxx)
Also from memory. For A2x, the MB, cable and LCDs are matched for resolution.

Just a matter of specialization. I really like the A2x, A3x especially the SXGA+ and UXGA versions. Now trying to go to R5x and T4x 15 inch SXGA+ and UXGA's without stepping on the loose GPUs.

Well, I hear that putting pressure on a loose GPU might make it work again, so stepping on one might not be a bad idea.sjthinkpader wrote:Just a matter of specialization. I don't know why we love these ATI GPU machines so much. The T2x (S3) and 600 (NeoMagic) machines had no problem at this magnitude.
