T61 Intel video blue screen after using VESA graphics

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Fri May 09, 2008 1:21 pm

Has anyone else seen this problem on a ThinkPad T61:

Running XP SP3 (clean install with all drivers updated by System Update).

If I run a DOS application full-screen (for example, WordPerfect 6.2) and switch the DOS application screen to a VESA graphics mode (for print preview, for example), the application continues to run normally, until I close the DOS application. At this point, the screen turns black, and after a while a blue-screen appears with a message saying that the problem seems to be caused by igxprd32, which got into an infinite loop.

I can prevent this from happening by switch the color depth on the Windows screen from 32-bit to 16-bit, but it would be nice to keep the 32-bit setting. Is this possible, or is there a known fix?

Thanks for any help.

I'm getting the same blue-screen from running World of Warcraft on occasion. Graphics not maxed out and computer temperature is normal.
