Got a couple of x31's have some questions

#1 Post by lnlds » Sat May 10, 2008 4:21 am

Its pretty late/early i just got home and i see 2 x31s in the corner. One of them is a 1.4 and the other is a 1.3.

I'm wondering if the 1.4 is noticably faster than the 1.3. The 1.4 looks like it's been wailed on the screen clasps are broken, 1 dead pixel, missing screws, docking station cover broken off, all the little feet gone, big dent in the metal under the right hinge but perfect keyboard. It just doesn't feel solid =(. It feels like someone just slapped it together using spare parts.

The 1.3 is pristine except for the keyboard. I'm thinking of just swapping keyboards and re-selling the 1.4 or something. Is swapping a motherboard difficult? I'm nervous because i can NEVER get the bezel to sit properly and it bulges up after replacing it. I mean the 1.3 looks brand new minus the keyboard. How hard is it to replace the screen clasps? the screen also is a little raised from the hinge. Is this (easily) fixable?

Just swap the keyboards...you won't notice the difference between 1.3 and 1.4...

Just my $0.02...

How hard would it be to replace the clasps at the top of the LCD? thats the only thing thats preventing it from being a "useable" machine. Also what are they officially called i've tried searching forums for instructions and ebay but couldn't find it.

Are you referring to latches that engage and lock the lid to the base?

hahah yeah latches! are they easy to come by around here? If not I have a x20 with a busted screen/bezel and was wondering if i could just take the latches off and dremel it to fit since the x31's are round and the x20s are squareish
