How to browse Internet under Vista x64

#1 Post by kookatt » Sun May 11, 2008 5:46 am

I intend to upgrade my computer to Vista x64 SP1. However, I've learned that Roboform and Flash Player cannot run on Firefox or IE 7 x64. Thus, I think I need to use Firefox x32 or IE7 x32 under Vista x64. My question is that are there going to be any problem running Firefox x32 with add-ins including Roboform Toolbar and Flash Player?

Thank you,
Thinkpad X61 (7676A13) with 4GB RAM, Intel BG Wireless, Hitachi 7K200, Windows XP Pro SP2

I have had to put IE 64-bit aside because there are too many issues of vendors dragging their feet. I have set my desktop icons to point to IE 32-bit and it works everywhere I go. Sometime I will go back to 64-bit when Adobe and others get their act together.

I note, with respect to Adobe, that they only just came out with a 64-bit version of Acrobat Standard which I obtained two days ago and installed. It seems to be working fine.

The Firefox that you can get from mozilla.com is a 32-bit build. All the existing addons and extensions for 32-bit Firefox will still work. There is no official 64-bit build yet, but you can roll your own.

Like jdhurst said, Vista comes with 32 and 64-bit IE7. I, too, hardly ever use the 64-bit IE due to lack of plugins and personal preference for firefox as primary browser.
