I'm having some issues I think with the sensitivity of the sensitivity on the track point stick. Something seems to have changed. Not sure if it is hardware or software related. It seems the movement or pressure required to move the pointer accross the screem has changed. It required more force to move the pointer accross the screen. Almost as if the pointer seems heavy and I have to push the trackpoint more to get the pointer to move quicky accross the screen. I've increased the sensitivity all the way to light touch. and still seems likeit required to much touch to move the pointer. I've done ALL updates including SP2. I tried rolling back the trackpoint driver and then reinstalling the current driver to no avail.
I'm sure something has changed as I don't remember the track point requiring so much force. It still works, and I can make the pointer move quickly, just seem my finger is more stressed having to do it.
Any ideas???
On the initial Windows password screen the pointer moves EVEN slower..
Is this the same for other users out there?
I've got this X40 tuned in fairly well now, except for this one apparent new issue. Still some "clicking" noise from the hard drive I guess thats about it...
Thanks.. Roger
Trackpoint stick sensitivity...
Matt.. thanks for your response.. I think I've managed to get the mouse sensitivity to a better place... I did a "clean install" of WXPP (not just to correct the mouse issue). I felt better about everything over all on the computer after the clean install. One thing I may have missed was that I might have had under "pointer options" the check box for "enhance pointer precision" checked. This has the effect of causing the Trackpoint to feel heavier. Anyway I now have that unchecked track point on light touch and pointer speed on fast and I guess it is good now... I did like the "enhanced pointer precision", but feel that it causes more strain to move the track point. It maybe be possible that I have a slight hardware problem as I remember other trackpoints that are way to jumpy if one has pointer speed set to fast.. Anyway guess I'm happy.. will have to test the difference to another X40 to see if mine is slower hardware wise…
I've really got this X40 tuned in now and couldn't be happier. Well maybe with a faster harddrive, but that just isn't possible..
Cheers... Roger
