#1 Post by blackmag+c » Tue May 13, 2008 11:52 am

So basically, I've just tried to fit the drive into the ultrabase. It goes in but is not flush and doesnt detect in bios. Now, it wont come out either, and the tray doesnt open either. Please help

Hi and welcome to this great forum :D

Did you hear a click at the end when inserting?

Is the lock-key in the 'all-open' position on the bottom of the UB?

I wish there was a serious successor to the TP570..

Hi - if the drive eject switch on the ultrabase doesn't work try using a pin in the hole in the face plate of the drive - that should release the tray ... maybe that will help pulling it out (carefully) - but do check the lock switch as previously suggested too.
I do seem to remember having to remove the lower plate from the caddy(one screw) to get the drive to fit properly ... but then again I may be remembering the portable drive bay set up instead! it's a long time since I used either.

Most 600 series drives, well most of the ones I've got anyway, will fit a 570 if you take the trim plate off the bottom as bobgarty said.

If you don't it's not just not flush, it's a mile out. This sounds like a drive for a completely different model and it's not getting power.

Not that that helps with getting it out...

You have released the lock and the latch before trying to remove it?

this mightbe an issue uf the ultrabase
up to now i had three ones that show the same symptom,
non working ultrabay device(no power)

The 570 itself gets power on that 3 bases, also the usb connector on their backside works well.
Never tried to load a battery attached to one of the "broken" ultrabases.
