ebooster and CardFlash on X24
ebooster and CardFlash on X24
Since my X24 with XP is maxed out on RAM...I was wondering if using http://www.eboostr.com/ with a 2GB Compacflash card would be helpful.
Anyone try this yet?

X24 2662MXU, Win XP, 100 gb 7k100, Broadcom mini pci b/g wireless
Just thought id chime in on using this on my x-41 tablet.
Overall its a great product, i do get a noticeable difference in application load times overall. The big difference however is on initial boot time after logging onto windows. Here it probably knocked about 1 minute off my load times. I would probably expect better performance with a better sdcard (the one i use tops out at 2700kbps) but still, goes a good way to making the table a little less slow--definitely worth a try.

Yep, i just use the internal SD card reader. It may be possible that a USB thumb drive would be faster--im not sure what bus the sd card reader is attached to. I manage to get 2700kbs out of this card, but i have heard people get throughputs in the 4000kbps range on the same model computer with others so....
Re: ebooster and CardFlash on X24
I tried it with an X22. The CF slot is SLOWER than the hard drive, so that didn't really work out. That's because the CF slot uses a slow PIO mode instead of a faster DMA mode. Note the X2x series has USB 1.1 ports so using a built-in USB port won't work either.
I haven't tried it again, but arrived at the following list of things that might work.
1) Use a Cardbus USB 2.0 card, and use a flash drive there. That doesn't appeal to me because I don't want things sticking out of the laptop. The X22 is an ultraportable, having things sticking out of it makes it less portable in my view.
2) Try using a UDMA CF card by Lexar. That might work to speed up the CF slot, but then the slot may not support UDMA speeds. Don't be confused by cards claiming 120x, 266x, etc. There are all PIO card. A UDMA card produly states that it is UDMA capable. UDMA cards are also much more expensive.
3) Use a UDMA CF Card by Lexar and a UDMA CF to Cardbus adaptor. There are many CF to Cardbus Adaptors avilable, but only very few are true UDMA capable, many are merely UDMA compatible (i.e. they will work with UDMA cards, but at slow regular speeds). On a T23, this provides as much as 40GBps speeds.
