How to switch off DVD drive

#1 Post by MartinB » Wed May 14, 2008 11:22 am

Hi,

I never use the DVD drive on my T42. How do I permantly switch off the DVD drive without removing the device? That is, how to cut the power without doing it at every startup?

Why don't you get the Travel Bezel P/N 13N5108 instead?
Leave the DVD at home and fill the gap with that yoke.
Makes your TP lighter as well.

That's only disabling the DVD AFTER Windows starts.
The drive will still be powered!

I concur. I have a ton of those, and use them regularly. (To quote the SNL "Oops I **** My Pants" ad, "I am now ... and I just did.") A vendor on eBay sells them for $10 IIRC with free shipping. I'm brainstorming with admins here on a way to raffle some off.
