Docking and Overheating

#1 Post by newt43 » Fri May 16, 2008 10:25 am

Hi: I have a T43 that overheats when it's docked, but that is fine when I run it off the AC power brick. I have determined that the GPU may be overheating during docking because my Thinkpad thinks it is running multiple monitors when docked (even though I do not have an external display). Display settings does not allow me to disable multiple monitors. Can anyone help me fix this problem? I offer my humble thanks in advance.

Have you tried creating your own power scheme in the battery maximizer wizard? You can set the CPU speed to adaptive. Maybe that would help. I'm using several dock stations with my thinkpads but I have not experienced your problem.

I also run in "adaptive" much of the time, it keeps the system cooler.

You ought to be able to change monitor config in Presentation Director ... tried that?
