Stop Errors When Using LAN BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!

#1 Post by maxstang » Fri May 16, 2008 1:24 pm

OK... so finally upgraded to an X31 and I've been LOVING it...until yesterday. At a hotel on business and I had it hooked to the ethernet provided by the hotel. Worked great until.... BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH and a reboot. I wasn't typing or anything, it was just sitting there and reset. The error the first 2 times was:

"IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

It did it again several times and at least one of the errors was:

"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I used PC Dr. to check the memory etc. and it passed no problem.

Prior to this I've been using only wireless internet connection using the built in wireless. I figured it might be the ethernet card's driver causing the problem and I have downloaded and installed the most recent one from Lenovo.

So far, it seems to be working... but I'm waiting again for the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! Any ideas?

Problems like this are almost always due to driver bugs. You did the right thing, assuming that you downloaded the correct Ethernet driver.

Secondary reasons are bad memory or bad sectors on the hard disk. Did you do the complete hard disk test with PC Doctor; the one that scans for bad sectors?

Thanks for the response. Yes I did do the disk check. It also hasn't had a stop error since I upgraded the driver for the Ethernet card. Hopefully that was the problem.
