T42p BSOD upon resume from hibernate with 3.13 BIOS update

#1 Post by jaxf250 » Mon Dec 13, 2004 12:36 pm

I recently applied the 3.13 BIOS update to my T42p and now when I spin down to Hibernate mode from being docked, and then power up outside of the dock, I get a Blue Screen of Death and the system reboots from scratch.
It powers back on fine, btw.

Anyone else seen this before I call IBM about it? Just curious.... thanks.

OK, 20 views and no replies... guess it is time to revert the BIOS update. Anyone have advice or wisdom who has done this before on TPads? Is it pretty straight-forward? Wonder if I can still d/l it from the IBM site?
(no, I have not called it in yet... way too busy today...)

I updated my BIOS on a 2378-FVU T42, and everything has been working perfectly.

Update: backed off the BIOS update to 3.12 now, and got a new STOP error (PAGE FAULT IN NON-PAGED AREA)...grrrrrr.... so doing research I see that this can be graphics-related (mine was, XP complained about a ati2???.dll file in the BSOD message), so lo-and-behold, what do I see dated 12/15 on the IBM site but a new set of drivers for the FIRE GL T2 card.... so I apply these and voila, suspend and hibernate are OK now.

My fingers are still crossed, but hopefully this is the last of it for a while....

Maybe I will try to get back to 3.13 of the BIOS this weekend, if I am feeling brave....

You should do the embedded controller firmware BEFORE the BIOS. There are dependencies.

You may be lucky. Just update the embedded controller. don't backlevel the BIOS.

I was getting similar error, due to ATIdrab2.dll when i updated the ATI drivers with 3.13, but there is a new update for ATI drivers released on 12/15 that solved my problem

try them out good luck

Thanks. I had done the controller upgrade before the 3.13 upgrade, sorry I forgot to mention it. Anyway, I am obviously now running the 3.12 bios with the upgraded controller and the new ATI drivers... all seems well, but I am still watching it carefully... not sure if this is a supported/correct config, but it works...
