How to get access IBM back?

#1 Post by tazjig » Sat May 17, 2008 8:17 pm

Well my 20GB harddrive kicked the bucket and i installed a 120GB and installed XP with a cd that i had. I was just wondering if there was a way to get all the factory IBM settings back? like the access ibm button when it boots up and stuff like that. Is there like a big download that will partition the harddrive again? thanks.

The only way to get the factory recovery partition back is to reload the entire drive using rescue and recovery CD's for that machine.

I guess the only way to get those cd's now are to purchase them?

hey i dont think the recovery cd is all that important....

i got my r32 with a bad hard drive and no cd's.

i installed windows xp pro with an oem cd on a new hard drive and with no problems. you can get every driver you need, from the lenovo website.

i made couple partitions on the drive, and made an image of the windows partition with all the drivers loaded using DriveImageXML and if I have to restore it I will use the BartPE plugin that goes with it enabling the laptop to be restored to a fresh state in about 20 minutes. With about 1 minute of work from me. Both those programs you will find are freeware and do a great job.

I'd save the 50 bucks on one of those discs and try that man.

Yeah, this is pretty easy, but it won't give him the access IBM feature and some of the other softwares that come with a factory install.
