#1 Post by johnp126 » Mon May 19, 2008 8:16 am

I wanted to run a chkdsk and found this problem. T61p running vista 64 and Diskeeper 2008. I found some things on google but nothing worked, anyone have further ideas?

There are other threads on this board dealing with this problem, which is apparently due to some software bug(s) in Thinkvantage software, most notably Rescue and Recovery, on Vista.

If you uninstall R&R you will probably get back the ability to run Chkdsk, although if you want R&R then this is no solution.

I don't know any other solution with Diskeeper. With Perfectdisk, a competing product, there is a small application called "PDBOOTFIX.EXE" that can be downloaded from the software mfr's website, which can be run just before attempting to run a Chkdsk or an offlne defrag of system files . I have found this to work, ON OCCASION, but the problem then soon returns. I think a final solution to this problem will have to await software bug fixes on the part of Lenovo.
