Case (of carrying) for device bay hardware?

#1 Post by CeNG » Mon May 19, 2008 8:32 am

I just bought a caddy and new hard drive to fit into the device bay (do they call them Ultrabays anymore?) of my T61p and so my optical drive will be homeless unless I need to burn something or install something from disc. However I don't really want to just toss it into my computer bag unprotected.

I was wondering if anyone has come across any sort of oem or aftermarket case that fits the device bay hardware? I've done a bit of poking around and haven't come up with much.

I've got several at home, (all in use), but can't remember if there is an IBM part number o them or not. I did a quick eBay search and only one came up but it wasn't an IBM brand. They're actually quite nice and just have a flap that stays closed with velcro. Most have the IBM logo imbossed on the flap but not all of them do. The ultrabay drives slide in snuggly so anything wider might not fit. I'll check tonight to see if there is an FRU on them.

Hmm, interesting.

Well it looks like you get a case of some sort if you order any of the Ultrabay Slim optical drives. But they don't ship one with the SATA HDD adapter. Not very helpful, Lenovo!

Thanks for the reply, Phazer. If you could check on that FRU for me that would be fantastic. :)

FRU: 05K4562

There are several on eBay now at decent prices.

Sorry for the delay, I forgot, my bad.
