Matshita UJDA765 CD/DVD vs Hitachi GCC-4242N

#1 Post by albo » Mon May 19, 2008 3:27 pm

Hi Folks,

I've had a few problems with 4242N's going bad in my t43 7668-73u over the years. I have an extended warranty, so i keep getting "servicable used parts" shipped to me from IBM. Now, however, I just got a Matshita UJDA765 instead of the Hitachi 4242N I had before.

Are there any real differences between these drives? Is one better than the other for any particular reason?

Thanks folks!

Best,
Allie

I've had both, in different computers: more experience with the M a t s u s h i t a but both have been pretty reliable.

thanks keith, good to know. Looks like one downside is there might not be an rpc1 firmware available for the matshita, while there is one for the hitachi.

Just use a software program like DVD43 or ANYDVD.
