R61e - is there an internal wireless card in this book?

#1 Post by Fedor11 » Tue May 20, 2008 7:17 am

I have R61e 7649-AE8 with Windows XP. All drivers works fine, but I have no wireless card in my "Network connections" or Device manager. Sure, I try all drivers from official website. May be, my book simply have not an wireless card?
Thanks a lot. This trouble make me crazy about a week.

go the lenovo website, download the maintence guide for your model, find the instructions on removing/installing the wireless card, follow them and open your machine up to confirm whether or not there is one in there. it's about the best way to make sure...

I would think most OS's would be able to find your wireless card. What are you running?

It could be a bad card or you may just need to reseat it. I'd follow the above advice, get the HMM and commence to tearin down the machine to see if it's in there, don't have an R61 but it's probably under the keyboard.

I believe it's in display lid... If your warranty is still valid, consider bringing it to service...

It would be difficult to fit a wireless card under the LCD Panel, it could probably be done though, the antena wires are there, but the actual card is under the keyboard.

I'm pretty sure it's under the keyboard to, and the wires are in the lid. I glanced over the section in the manual when I bought my R61.
