Memory for X61T 7767-96U - PC2-5300 or PC2-6400?

#1 Post by ukchris » Wed May 21, 2008 5:31 pm

So I want more memory, according to the book my X61T has 2 x 1Gb SODIMMS which are PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2.

So, on crucial where I often buy memory they show PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 or DDR2 PC2-6400 DDR2-800. The price is essentially the same so should I stick with the stock specs or splash out the extra $5 on the second option?

I'm most probably going to buy 2 x 2Gb by the way so they'll be a matched pair - although I guess I could make do with 3Gb and only buy one module... maybe...

Chris.

I'm assuming faster memory is better, if it's compatible? I run a lot of virtual machines on my laptop so RAM is at a premium.
