Interchangable Motherboards for T41p

#1 Post by MurrayShafiroff » Thu May 22, 2008 6:15 am

Are the system boards (93P3313, 39T5495, et all) swappable from the 15" models to the 14.1" models?

Thanks in advance guys!

From what I have seen all the boards will fit. Just the type of memory (T40/1/2 DDR, T43 DDR2) and GPU. The FSB is 400mhz on the T40/1/2 and on the T43 it is 533mhz. CPU's should work but may slow down based on the FSB speed.

The T43s use a different PCMCIA/Expresscard cage. The plastic spacer is slightly different from T40/41/42 as well.

Will the dual PCMCIA cage from the T40/T41/T42's work in a T43 mobo? I always wondered if the connector was the same and if it would be detected properly. Conversely, could you use the PCMCIA/Express cage in an earlier T4x?

Has anyone tried either? The last time I had both machines on hand I forgot to try it.
