Does anyone have a HPA image for X31

#1 Post by Terrahawk » Thu May 22, 2008 4:58 pm

Hi there,

I have just bought myself a secondhand X31 but the hard drive has been wiped and consequently has no recovery partition. I am pretty sure this X31 has the same sort of recovery partition as my R40 so I am able to put one on, if I have the right HPA image. I could always put the R40 image on and just change a few things after it installs but I'd rather just put on an X31 image if I can.

So... would anyone have the X31 HPA partition (with Windows XP) backed up on DVD anywhere that they could send a copy of to me?

Question. Why do you want the original disc image? Why not install XP from a CD? I imagine the original recovery partition has outdated drivers, anyway.

Mostly because I like the original IBM setup. Despite the claims of bloat, etc, blah, it runs quickly and smartly on all my Thinkpads.

Driver updates take only about 10 minutes to do, as I have all the latest IBM drivers on CD. I am not interested in getting the latest of the latest driver straight from the device manufacturer - what works well enough is good enough for me unless of course, it doesn't work.
