need help with t22 ethernet

#1 Post by Stevesoura » Fri May 23, 2008 12:26 pm

Playing with my managers laptop. I notice that I cannot connect to the internet via ethernet. I looked in device manager and nothing is there under network adapter. Only thing there is the wifi card which works fine. The reason I need the ether to work is because he is trying to setup dsl at his house and does not get a connection. Maybe due to no ethernet. I have downloaded two drivers IBM recommended with no luck. I am running windows xp.

Mini-PCI Slot

#2 Post by nikki605 » Fri May 23, 2008 1:35 pm

What's installed in the mini-pci slot? My T21 (2647-47u) originally shipped with a dial-up modem card - no ethernet. The connector is on the rear, but the other end of the connector was unplugged.

I had to buy a combo modem/ethernet card and replace it.

What's the full model number of the T22?

If the internal combo modem/ethernet card has been displaced by a wifi card in the minipci slot, your best option might be a pcmcia 10/100 ethernet card. Look for one that does not use a dongle.

If there is a wireless card in the mini-pci slot, then someone had to have done a "field modification." Where is the antenna? Was an internal antenna installed?

Or, is the current wireless a PCMCIA card?

EDIT: Oops, crossed posts. Yeah, an empty mini-pci slot would answer the question!

Its about a T21, but just about everything there will apply to your T22. There are great suggestions, links and photos.
