I want a *Mini* USB PC-Card!

#1 Post by Bookworm » Sat May 24, 2008 9:32 pm

AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

A few years ago, at the Radio Shack in Bend, Oregon, at the mall, I saw a PC Card USB interface that used a *mini* connector, and did not have the big external connector. I could plug it in, close the door and not have a big thing sticking out the side.

Back then, I was using a Tandy 1400LT and PC cards were out of the question. I haven't seen one since. Now that I have a PC-Card slot, the only USB cards I can find have that big stupid bulge.

No computer dealer can find a mini-USB PC-Card. Even Google can't find one. Was I halucinating? (My 1400LT wasn't driving me *that* crazy!) Was it discontinued and never imitated? How could they not make another one? What the blank is going on here?

Where can I find a *mini* USB PC-Card?

**(The folowing part of this irrelevant rant is even less relevant)**

Google did come up with one thing I've been wondering about (who knows what it has to do with PC-Cards). What the bleep is "Bluetooth"? And while where at it, what is "Silverlight"? And why do I ask all these stupid questions anyway?

In reverse order of asking:

Silverlight: http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/ (Never heard of this one :!: )

Bluetooth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth and http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/bluetooth.htm

"Mini" USB PCMCIA card is probably what is normally referred to as having a "dongle". It's a cable which converts the thin connector at the edge of the PCMCIA card into a standard "A" type USB jack. It looks like Harryc found one on eBay for you.
