X30 - no picture on lcd, but picture through external..?

#1 Post by mange_ » Mon May 26, 2008 9:06 am

So I finaly got everything needed to boot this baby but the lcd doesnt give me any picture. However if I connect an external monitor through dsub it shows a picture just fine, no artefacts or anything. When I look at the mainboard everything looks fine.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? I'll get a new mainboard if I have to but at the odd chance of an easy fix I'd like to wait for you input.

Cheers,
Mange

That looks rather like lcd issue, if the vga-out works. Is lcd properly connected?

I know but I have two lcd assemblys and both are non-working. I've tried reseating the lcd connector a few times but it makes no difference. :( I only need to connect the lcd connecter right?

Your motherboard is likely bad. The fact that it displays on outside monitor means little. Output through VGA is analog, for the internal LCD is digital. One doesn't always affect the other.

I've seen dozens of ThinkPads with this issue...not pretty.

Good luck.
