Best way to store a battery?

#1 Post by Andrew T » Mon May 26, 2008 4:15 pm

I mostly use my laptop in my docking station, and I don't want the constant AC power to kill my battery so I am thinking about just removing the battery and putting it in my desk. Would it be best to store it fully charged, or fully drained or somewhere in between?

It's a 9 cell Lithium Ion battery.

30-50% charged.
At about 5C in a fridge (not freezer!).
And don't forget to protect it from moisture.

Interesting. Mind pointing out how, where, why?

According to their data (on another page), simply removing the battery from the laptop should be cool enough to prolong life. Cooler is better, but you get diminishing returns, with only a 2% difference gained from sticking it in the fridge.
