My fan went in my 1300i yesturday, so this morning I pulled the thing completely apart.
I was looking at the motherboard, and discovered two covers on the back, one was hiding my ethernet card, and the other was hiding a small firewire port?
I have owned this old girl for over two years, and never knew it had either of these functions.
I also discovered the internal wireless card was a standard mini pci slot under the keyboard.
These old things are really quite awesome.

alot of IBM TP uses miniPCI Modem which can be swap with Wifi card where most other brands had integrated modem.
I have i1300 also, but 2 covers on the bottom for me is the miniPCI and RAM.
