So I did a fresh install of my operating system using the streamline process, copying over the bcd directory and everything described in the FAQ. I was expecting to see a minimal amount of processes in my task list and instead I still am left with a bunch. I'm trying to weed this list down and figure out which I really need and which I can do without, here's what I have:
alg.exe
SynTPLpr.exe
SMAgent.exe
TPONSCR.exe
TpShocks.exe (assuming this has to do with proggy that locks the harddrive when the laptop falls)
TPHKMGR.exe
TBMon.exe
ati2evxx.exe (Video driver in the process list? Do I need this?)
SynTPEnh.exe
SMax4PNP.exe (why does my sound card have a process associated with it?)
If you could explain what each one does and if there is a way to remove it to remove the clutter of my process list and free memory up that would be great.
This is frustrating.
Thanks,
Christopher
Still tons of unknown processes running on fresh install!

Also, to control what starts up, click Start > Run > msconfig
Then, go to the Startup tab and you'll see everything that's run when your machine starts up- the Services get their own tab.
NOTE: USE THIS TOOL AND ADJUST THE CONFIG AT YOUR OWN RISK.
