Well we're getting there...

Samsung has introduced the world's thinnest Solid State Disk (SSD), the MLC 256GiB. It has a 256GB capacity and a SATA II interface. Samsung says the read speed is 200Mbps and power consumption is only 0.9 Watts. The drive should be available around September of this year. While no price was given, this writer estimates at least two kidneys.

Samsung claims the drive will become available around September '08 and though it'll no doubt cost an arm and a leg, we already want one.

Yes it's a MLC drive which might make it much cheaper than a 128GB SSD SLC. I might have to jump on these oneday. The only difference between the 2 is that MLC doesn't last as long... still though, 10yrs is expected with average reads. a 128GB SSD is perfect for me.

Any SSD with a low enough $/GB ratio is good in my books (as long as it's not MLC)
