T41 - Recovery incomplete - c\ibmwork\ existing no more

#1 Post by thomas9 » Wed May 28, 2008 4:01 pm

I have a T41 and did Product Recovery from HDD.
BIOS had been updated before.

Now recovery crashes every time I try it. Actually I managed to have a basic Win XP running.

Unfortunately many tasks from c:\ibmwork had not been executed.
E.g. HDD is still FAT32 and not NTFS.

As c:\ibmwork is not existing any more:
- Is there a way to create c:\ibmwork manually and activate the outstanding tasks?

Thanks for a good advice!

Best regards
Thomas

Not in my experience with recoveries. You can manually convert to NTFS if you want to. I had a similar experience once....forget which TP it was on, but it appeared that windows had installed and it was functional but after a couple of days I found that many functions of the OS were just not there. You can run system file checker and see if your system files are in place - start>run>sfc /scannow . But my advice would be to try to burn your own recover CDs or run the recovery process again (if you can) and see if it works.

I have found that if the recovery does not complete, as it is an automated process, there is no user intervention (other than a reboot) to get it going again and completed,
