can i leave sd card in t61 card slot under touchpad

Although it is not flush with the laptop, i thought it would be neat to just put linux on it and live it in the sd slot. Is there any problem with doing this, like damaging connector during travel,?

No. You should be good.

It's flush enough. Certainly better than my old Dell E1705 or HP DV9500. About as flush as my Asus EEE was. It'd be fine; I'm leaving my 16gb SDHC in it, simply because I don't have a better place for it.
